Live Life

Finally the sun here is shining

But I don’t want to go outside

’Cause everything I have here is hurting

And I just want to live life

Finally I have all a lonely girl could want

But it’s not exactly true love that I’ve caught

Feels like we’re living in all that I’m not

And I just want to love love

I just want to love love

Trapped inside looking out

Trapped outside looking in

Wanting to begin

So I decide not to decide

And just Live Life

Finally I’ve come half way home

Between the warm city and the grey cold

But I’m not too happy being stuck in between

When all I am looking for is God

Now all I’ve wanted is gone

Finally I have all a lonely girl could want

West from Carolina

All my dreams come true

This road leads back to you

Passing at the speed of light

Paved the way to make wrongs right

And I had to be tough to open up

Leave the leaves down the road

Kicking up dust in the rear view mirror

All roads turn west from Carolina

All premonitions come true

This parking lot was built for two

Mecca in the middle of hell

Doesn’t matter where we dwell

The sun, the sun the sun

Keeps the winter away

The sun the sun the sun

Keeps the blues from coming back

I follow you there

All roads turn west from Carolina

All roads turn west

Highway 40

A tired old transmission started talkin’ outside of Tulsa

But when you travel all alone and there’s no one there to stop ya

And freedom doesn’t feel that free, when desperation is all you believe

Desperation’s just the darker side of being free

And loneliness is only a condition, not the whole of me

I’m so tired of being free, won’t someone come and fly with me

Flyin’ down Highway 40

Some they get themselves tied down like a steer going off to slaughter

Others love the chance they finally gave themselves to be a father

Some they dream while they mow their lawn

Thinking their freedom is somehow gone, they don’t know how lucky they are

At least they got a place to park the car

’Cause when it’s raining, when it’s snowing and you don’t know just where you’re going

Take some comfort in the knowin’ that someone’s waiting up for you

’Cause if I disappeared right now, perhaps my friends might miss me

But if I go on home right now, there’s no one there to kiss me

I’m so tired of being free, won’t someone come and fly with me

Flyin’ down Highway 40

Leap of Faith  (For Sandy and Uncle Ted)

It takes rain, sunshine, and earth

To turn a seed to a flower and give it birth, give it birth

I waited my whole life for all three to shine

It never did, it never did

Takes courage strength and faith

To turn a life of loneliness to one that’s ready

But when I asked God for my miracle

It never came, no it never came

Sometimes it takes a leap of faith

When there’s no one to catch you

Sometimes it takes a leap of faith

You don’t know your parachute

Sometimes it takes a leap of faith

You just fall, fall, fall, and that’s all

Beautiful, I love you, but I can see it’s coming down

Please don’t hate me for not giving you the chance

You will never dance, or know your other half

Wednesday comes with an update

Thursday seems to come a little too late

For all you’ve had to endure

We know what you’re waiting for

To take that leap of faith

Lovely, how you make me laugh

More lovely, how you have my back-you know that

You’re the sunshine that made me grow

Thought you should know I don’t want to see you go

John Denver’s Ghost (for the folks in the great state of Colorado!)

When I need some space for me

That’s OK, ’cause I get to be

With a lover that no one can see

That’s the boy that I want the most

Dreaming with John Denver’s ghost

He don’t leave no crumbs in bed

Hangs on every word I said

Never does he play around with my head

That’s the boy that I love the most

Dreaming with John Denver’s ghost

Kisses sweet as moutain flowers

I can keep all of my power

Never let a love go sour

That’s the boy that I want the most

Dreaming with John Denver’s ghost

Never leaves me alone at night

Let’s me win all of our fights

Always say the three special words

Baby, you are right

That’s the boy that I love the most

Dreaming with John Denver’s ghost

Maybe he’ll write a song about me

And I can sing it through aspen trees

Finally live out my fantasy about being someone else’s muse

Never leaves me alone at night

And in the morning he’ll stay for toast

Dreaming with John Denver’s ghost

Happy People and You (for Seattle & Sonoma)

Buskers, bikers, and the rich girls and you

I miss the quiet muted sunless days

No small town chatter about stuff that doesn’t matter

Keep my opinions at bay

I miss you when I’m gone

I miss you when I’m here

Feel my life is so far away

I miss you when I’m gone

I miss you when I’m here

Surrounded by happy people and you

Don’t wanna need a sweater on a summer afternoon

Sick of the sunsets being messed up by the gloom

I’ll take a rainy day over fog rolling in

At least a drop of rain feels more definitive

So keep your smile gleaming all day long

No one gets to see you take your happy face off

With me I see you frowning all the time

With everyone else they think you’re oh so, oh so fine

Searching for the Song

When my love became careless

I wished to be beautiful

When my love became restless

I wished to be a different girl

When my love forgot his love

Didn’t pause to see the road he was on

Forgot the melody forgot right from wrong

He stopped searching for the song

I’ve been warned about musical men

And how they’re not that genuine

But I was searching for that endless blended note

That place where I feel god in my soul

When I forgot my love

Didn’t pause to see the road I was on

Forgot my melody forgot right from wrong

I stopped searching for the song

When your heart is hurt and you long for love

Pause to see the road you’re presently on

Hear the melody hear right from wrong

Don’t stop searching for your song

Look inside yourself for love and God

The melody that’s with you doesn’t have to stop

Search the world over your whole life long

Just don’t give up, don’t give up

Even though you’re broken hearted, feel like you can’t go on

Don’t stop searching for the song

Between God and You

Tell me that you love me

Tell me how I’m better than her

Tell me lies lies lies

You look so handsome with those words

So tell me that you’re sorry

And how I mean the world to you

Sing me those sweet lovely words

’til you believe that they sound true

And love love love

Isn’t all that I thought thought thought

No, beautiful, I love you

Doesn’t mean anything anything true

Between God and you

There is a billboard in the center of this lonely town

Says tomorrow is the day that Jesus is coming down

If tomorrow was judgement day

I’d say, bring it on it’s ok

Because if life is only about coupledom

I’m not sure I wanna stay

I would like to be

Someone who is nicer than me

A girl who could forgive and forget

But always wins her bets

But my odds are zero to none

Cause I always love the untrustful ones

And if you could take it back

Well, I’m not sure that you would

It doesn’t mean anything real I can see

Between God and me

Mistakes

Everyone makes mistakes, everyone has regret

Wishes they could go back

Everyone has a lie, everyone wants to try

Try to erase their past

Make the good times last

And me,  I’m going back

To take a new direction

Start over where we left off

Everyone makes mistakes, wants to set the bed on fire

Cause they don’t want to lie there, desire

If I could  I would make things better from all I know

If I could I would change

But everyone makes mistakes, everyone has regrets

Few will admit that

Missing in the Moment  (for Dave)

It’s not the price

It’s the thought that counts

And he remembered I love yellow flowers

I said it’s not the color

But I long for red

As I think being shown isn’t enough

I really want it said

Like music hits my ears

And yellow reminds me of sunlight

Your sweetness eats at me while I chew on all I don’t have

So focused on the future

I forget to see the brilliant stuff

Right here, in the moment

So focused on our future

I forget to see the brilliant stuff

Right here, missing in the moment

They say if you never taste it

You may never know how sweet love is

But why would you want something on your tongue

You never can try again

They say it’s better to have loved

Than live life with a cold heart

But I am quite sure my lover’s cold stance

Will never let us start

No, you can’t expect brilliant things

When you’re waiting, waiting

You can’t expect anything when you’re

You’re missing in the moment

I wish I knew how to make a garden grow

But I fear I’ve spent too much time up north

Where the growing season’s much too short,

The grey just goes on and on

Guess I got used to drinking

Seems the lack of light gives you that invitation

I nearly drank myself to death up there

Determined not to need anyone

And the future is right here

Right here, missing in the moment

Story of Love

Everything so neatly timed

Every dot, every line

With all the love letters we write

There will never be a love

So divine sweet and kind

So let your smile shine

Drink this wine

The story of  love

The story life’s dreams are made of

The story of love

All the moments that we share

A special love that’s always there

Finding someone in this great nowhere is so sublime

A love as wide as the countryside

Or as bright as the starry sky in summer time

A love that encircles everyone

Reminds us where we all come from

We all come from love

A tale of two together

A beautiful book that has no end

We write this story with our family and our friends

For this the story of love
